Biography

Cheryl Byrd was born May 7th, 1981 in a small town in Ohio right on the Ohio River. Growing up her family didn't have a lot of money so they went to free places like state parks, many with trails and old ruins where her love for nature first took root. Continuing the tradition she and her husband take their kids to many parks all over the United States. Together they spend lots of time at Lake Erie, searching for buried treasure(they wish) and enjoying the sun. Her five cats, two lizards, a rat, and great dane keep her busy.
When Cheryl is not head long into a gripping chapter that she just must finish tonight(next week) she enjoys taking photos and gardening.
Currently she's working on several side stories from character in the Shadow Fire series who deserve their own moment in the spot light, while also working on her final book in that series.

How do you approach cover design?
That was an easy one, being photographer I've done many shoots at different places. The picture in the background is from a place in Ohio called Lusk Lock where the ruins of an old Lock and canal systems still stand. The view is inspiring and breathtaking walking among the enormous stones. The shadowed figure is how I view Dana, a woman lost in darkness before learning just what she is.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Oh, that's a hard one, I read everything. I'm literally addicted to the printed word.
If I had to pick, I would say The Accidentally Series by Mimi Pamfiloff. Because she says all the things we all think but are too chicken to say and the stories draw you into another world of bat shit crazy and garage sales. I love it.
Then the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. The most epic tale ever created.
I love all of Karen Moning's work. The highlander series...Hot Hot Hot
Old School, I love Elizabeth Gaskell The North and South.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, that book is where my love for unlikely heroes came from.
Last but not least Jane Austin, Pride and Prejudice. My feminine pride first started to roar it's head.
