Transitions, good name. Greg Schroeder uses a beautiful rhythm of words to carry us from the mundane work-a-day world to the sublime beauty of nature to the devastation of nature gone wild. His poems about the changing seasons send us "ghosting along", adrift in a sea of memories; sitting outside watching a summer's day as it fades into night; walking among the falling leaves and rising birds of Autumn; breathing deep the cold burning air of Winter; and remembering the rainy days, cozy by the fire or watching the rain drops dancing on the pavement. These poems are more than just a collection of words, they are a diorama of life. I highly recommend this book.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but in Moments we see that Greg Schroeder can paint a picture in your mind with less than a hundred. Moments is a thoughtful, looking back kind of book. It speaks to the winter of the soul, of life, of the eternal questions 'Who am I?' and 'Where is my place in the universe?'. It reminds us that once our world belonged to a different people and will again, that the way we look at nature and life changes with age, and that with each passing winter we are led to a different spring. A good book for any day.
