In general, I'm a writer. Not of anything in particular; just a writer, doing whatever will earn a buck or provide a bit of passing interest. With experience in writing, web design, marketing, journalism, teaching, project management, and various other fields, my writing covers an broad range of well-researched, carefully thought-through content.
I once had quite a bohemian vision of writing, but ended up writing news, features, travelogues, business and academic articles, and really rather a lot of web content. There's no writing challenge like finding an interesting and engaging way to describe chamfered steel plates...
This has led to some unfortunately disappointing situations, in which some bright young thing will hear I'm a writer and ask how, expecting there to be some great secret. When I tell them 'write whatever anyone will let your write, or pay you for writing; then do that for ten years and you might be able to make a sort of living out of it.'
It's not inspirational, but it does have the great advantage of being true. Learning to take an interest in mundane things, then making them interesting for others, is a great way of improving one's skills.

Aside from my writing and design work, my main project is Feeding The Self, an NGO I started in 2011. The idea of FTS was to teach school content in the garden, without textbooks or tests. We get rural schoolchildren to learn what their schoolwork actually means by showing it to them in practice, and getting food at school and home as a bonus.

It covers every major avoidable error that students make in their writing, such as referencing, structure, knowing what the question means, and much more.
