Cindy Burrows is an artist and art major who discovered a gift for writing just before she left for art school. She rediscovered this gift more than a decade into her working life. Being an artist, Cindy has illustrated her own front cover for this book and has illustrated all of her own books. Her art can be viewed online on many sites and at her studio in the Bahamas, where she resides.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and grew up in The Bahamas. It is a former British colony. Being part afro decent and so close to the United States, and descended from slaves, it has an impact.
When did you first start writing?
I first starting writing quite unexpectantly as a late teen, poetry etc...But more seriously after art school. I wrote short stories, then it progressed to novels in 2005. I was first published in 05/2006.
