Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in sunny Athens. I think growing up in Greece gives a writer a lot of incentives to create books that do not just tell an interesting story, but books that also help the reader travel to other worlds and meet colorful characters and figures that will remain with him as cherished friends and companions for a lifetime. If you come to think about it, it’s not a small thing to be able to walk where the great philosophers and the ancient poets had once walked. Just the thought of it has one’s creative juices flowing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The journey of writing is indeed an exciting and magical one. I think that writing for me is first and foremost the chance to experience the magic of another Cosmos, where the rules we learn as children to abide by, don’t apply. But what is special and unique in this escape from the limitations of everyday life is that you can share this freedom with other people. People coming from different backgrounds with all sorts of personal experiences.
