What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Exploration. Writing is an adventure of the imagination where new things are learned both about the world and about oneself. Writing helps me remember, helps me learn, and lets me share what I find joyful with others.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Every tweet, post, email, letter is answered personally. This book only exists in its current form because of the generosity and belief in me that 74 Kickstarter backers had in October, 2014. I write to share my passion.
Coffee Smuggler is an adventure based on the true story of Gabriel de Clieu who brought coffee to the Americas in 1723. De Clieu seduces a noble woman with a strange illness to steal a cutting of King Louis XV's only coffee plant. He sets sail and faces pirates, a hurricane and the doldrums before arriving in Martinique to cultivate the plant that would spread coffee across the Americas.
