Biography

News Anchor and Author Dawn Baker grew up in rural Riceboro, GA, population 750, but she never let her small town roots stand in the way of her big dreams. At the age of 13, she moved to the Hostess City of the South, beautiful, charming Savannah, GA.

Dawn was educated in the Liberty and Savannah Chatham County Public Schools and graduated from Savannah High School. Upon graduation, she went on to prepare for her award-winning career in journalism at Howard University in Washington, DC. Just days after completing her last final exam, Dawn was working as a television news reporter in Wilmington, NC. She is now an anchor at WTOC-TV, the #1 television station in Savannah, GA.

Dawn believes that we are all responsible for doing our part to improve the quality of life for our fellowman. She has proven that through her work in the community. She has been the host of the Children's Miracle Network for nearly 20 years and has worked closely with many organizations including: The Better Business Bureau, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Red Cross Bone Marrow Program. She fell in love with missionary work when she accompanied volunteers to Ghana, Nigeria and Guatemala.

Dawn has won numerous awards and recognitions for her exemplary work in journalism and in the community. She spends her free time basking in her joy of photography and her new found love of running.
