Deb Huston

Biography

A high school friend recently informed me that he counted and believes I've had at least four careers and writing full time now makes five. Phineas Blue Shadows and Light is my first novel and is Book 1 of a series I’m writing.

I have worked as executive producer, designer and director for an Emmy award-winning post-production and design firm and have been a featured lecturer nationwide for my skills as a creative and technical innovator.

I’m a graduate of San Francisco State University’s acclaimed Professional Training Series in Multimedia Development and the Leading Clean Energy Ventures Fellows program at Boston University’s Graduate School of Management offered in collaboration with the New England Clean Energy Council. I am also a California Certified Green Building Professional, HERS Rater, and have trained as a California GreenPoint Rater.

In addition to my extensive software development experience, I am an A+ Certified Technician, a musician, composer, designer, digital editor, and a filmmaker who has developed many short films I shot, directed, produced and edited, including an award winning feature documentary, Let My Country Awake.

My approach to writing is through a cinematic lens. Dialogue and action come first to me, along with the story and characters of course. But as a lifelong musician and composer, the sound of the words is extremely important to me. If it doesn't sound right, it isn't right. For me, the flow of language is as important as its meaning.
