Kay Denly

The book, Fairies in the Backyard, was written by Kay Denly in November 2012. Kathleen and her husband, already the proud parents of three beautiful boys, were in the process of adopting a young girl from Russia. Inspired by the idea that her daughter would be coming to a whole new world when she and her husband adopted her, Kathleen created the story of Alex and Bella’s discovery of the fairy world to reflect that experience in a unique and fanciful way. A creative and imaginative person by nature, Kathleen hopes to inspire the imagination of her readers, big and small, as they follow Alex and Bella on their adventures.
100% of Kathleen’s profits from the sale of Fairies in the Backyard will go directly to supporting adoption or foster youth charities!

The illustrations for Fairies in the Backyard were created by Brenda Bailey in December 2012. Brenda received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida, where she specialized in drawing. She loves art so much that she studied art history during her last semester in Rome. At just 4 years old Brenda informed her mother that she wanted to be a mother when she grew up. Now a devoted wife and mother of two who is passionate about family, Brenda’s favorite artist is Mary Cassatt because of her numerous works involving children. Brenda took on this project because it combined her two life’s passions into one fun project, and she hopes her illustrations will make children smile.
