Derek Youngs

Derek Youngs, born in England during a World War II air raid, took his first steps for peace on the Great Peace March for Nuclear Disarmament across the U.S.A. in 1986.

He went on to dedicate his life to walking for peace, founding the Peace Walker Society, and traversing more than 25,000 kilometres in 25 countries, each day walking in trust and faith, facing danger and uncertainty, not knowing where he would sleep or find his next meal. He shared his stories of love and learning across the globe.

Youngs died suddenly in 2011, and his wife, Carolyn Affleck Youngs, finished the memoir he had begun writing many years earlier.
