Dianne Herbert

I always intended to write a book but somehow it never happened. I finally got to the point of forcing myself to sit down at a computer and start typing away. What came out was in no way the genre and style that I thought it would be, but, well, life is like that sometimes!

The overall ideas of my stories are similar, but taken from very different places. Blackmail for sex and money seems to be what I'm mostly writing, with the odd mind control sort of a thing thrown in for good measure.

Given the overall genre I'm writing in I've not looked to friends and family for confirmation as to whether the writing is any good and if I should bother continuing. If you do enjoy a book then please leave some form of feedback and this can then guide any future writing. I've started a serial and in that, and some of the other shorter works that might suit a sequel, I will certainly take on board any reader comments or suggestions...!

Thank you for reading my books - long may it continue!

PS. I can tell that some people are finding my books here, then buying them elsewhere. I can fully appreciate why you might wish to do so, but think it is worth mentioning that Smashwords pays author's a much better rate than most - nearly 20% more than a certain well known seller of everything! You will be supporting our work more if you buy here - thanks!

Smashwords Interview

What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Hobbit; The Player of Games; Dune; The Mote in Gods Eye; Morningstar
All five are character driven stories with strong plots. Great writing is great writing no matter the genre. These are a few of the books that I'll come back to and read again at least every other year.
Who are your favorite authors?
JRR Tolkien, Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle (in partnership), Iain M Banks, David Brin, David Gemmell, George MacDonald Fraser.
These authors all give deep plots and good stories, but more than that there are characters that you can see grow and develop - characters that you will want to come and spend time with again and again.

This is a really good read. A well set-up plot, with good characters. If the rest of the series is as good as this one, I'm going to be having a very pleasing weekend reading them all through!

Bloody hell, that is quite a book. A great premise, something new and different, where you think you know what is going on - but are not quite sure why - but then there is a twist, and another, and you suddenly see things differently. This is near perfect in itself, but now that you know some of what is going on, you do wonder if the sequels can deliver. Only one way to find out...
