Dj Warner lives in Nebraska, is a true Huskers fan, and is sooo very close to being an empty-nester. This is her first book, although she has been writing stories for herself most of her life.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was very young--almost 35 yrs ago. My fourth grade teacher wanted a paragraph about our morning. I noticed everyone else in the room was writing about breakfast and brushing their teeth. I felt like that was the wrong answer, so I described walking to school, swinging my red lunch box back and forth, and some nonsense about the play ground. He liked it. I've been writing ever since.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Sunny is a single mom who has focused most of her adult life on making things better for her family. She managed to raise three boys on her own, get her degree, and find a job she loves. She also has a hard time saying 'no'. This leads her to take on the responsibility of planning her friends short notice wedding. I think we've all been there in one form or another when we've bitten off more than we can chew and don't want to admit it or ask for help. We try to go with the flow and hope for the best--we believe it will all come together. That's what Sunny hopes, but life, friends, and career have interesting ways to show us we are so wrong.
The Wedding Date is a romantic comedy. Sunny Morgan is a radio talk show host raising identical triplets on her own. Against her better judgment she agrees to plan her friend's spur of the moment wedding. Things become complicated when she starts dating the high school football coach and the station decides to hold a contest to find Sunny a date for the wedding.
