Donna Cummings

Biography

I have worked as an attorney, winery tasting-room manager, and retail business owner, but nothing beats the thrill of writing humorously-ever-after romances.

I reside in New England, although I fantasize about spending the rest of my days in a tropical locale, wearing flip flops year-round, or in Regency London, scandalizing the ton.

I can usually be found on Twitter talking about writing and coffee, and on Facebook talking about coffee and writing.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
My story ideas appear in the strangest ways sometimes! Usually I'm working on a different story, or I'm driving, or washing dishes and all of a sudden new characters show up in my mind. They only appear as a teaser, almost like a movie preview, so then I have to figure out what happens next!

This story came about when some unrelated ideas bumped into each other in my brain. The Greek goddess of love decides to play matchmaker in Regency London, and the hero is late to his own wedding. The story just took off from there!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love watching the characters banter with each other. It's always a surprise to me. Half the time--no, make that 95% of the time--I feel like I'm a court stenographer, just copying down what happens while the characters are interacting. It's fun for me to see what they say and do, and it's what keeps me coming back to the keyboard each day.

Everyone should have at least one wild fling on their resumé. Mia is dogsitting for two weeks, and it's not easy chasing after a puppy with a shoe fetish. But there's a reward for her troubles: the hunky guy next door. Luke is a workaholic unhappy about his forced vacation--until he gets to know his temporary neighbor. She's sexy and fun, and now two weeks isn't nearly enough time.

This was such an intriguing read. I was enthralled right from the first page as Nalena describes her routine trips to get computer paper for her mother's seemingly out-of-control writing habit. I really didn't want this story to end, and I grumbled a little bit at my e-reader when it wouldn't do any more page turns. Thank goodness for the excerpt for Keystone--hopefully it won't be long before it's available. I definitely want to spend more time with Nalena and the people in her life. flag
