Dyane Forde

Dyane Forde’s love of writing began with an early interest in reading and in words in general. She was always amazed at how linking words together in different ways had unexpected and pleasing results on others. This revelation sparked a life-long desire to write all types of things from short stories, novels, flash fiction, and poetry. Every story or book represents new joys and challenges. Dyane views writing as an intimate communication tool by which she seeks to connect with others on a level deeper than intellect.

Dyane is a social worker by profession. Learning to see the world through other people’s eyes has enriched her as a person and as a writer. She is also a wife and mother to two children, a cat named JackJack and a dog named Sparky. She runs a writing blog (www.droppedpebbles.wordpress.com) where you can discover her other book projects and short stories, and meet new and exciting writing talent.

Last but not least, her fantasy trilogy, The Purple Morrow, and it's sequel, Wolf's Bane, are now available in paperback and e-book! Dyane has recently the ranks of Breakwater Harbour Books, an exciting new venture!

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story I ever read--I know I was young at the time and that I read a lot. But I do know that I loved words and how they worked together to make such neat stories. I think that's what ultimately got me hooked.
How do you approach cover design?
I prefer simple designs. Visuals that are clear and uncluttered. I don't like silly script fonts or anything that it hard to read. I think a book cover should be communicative of its contents, evoke some kind of emotion without feeling claustrophobic, of you know what I mean--unless it's horror or suspense. I could see how that might work in the book's favor.
