Elsa Sharp is a talent manager at the BBC in Factual Production. She has been a freelancer working in TV for over 20 years since getting her first break as a researcher at Wall to Wall Television in 1994. Prior to that she trained and worked as a journalist, freelancing for the music press and broadsheets.
She's been a researcher, assistant producer, producer/director, series producer and series editor working on entertainment programmes,as well as working in development.
She became a talent manager in 2005 and has worked for several independent TV companies freelancing in this role, including Objective Productions, Impossible Pictures and Firecracker Films. She became Head of Talent at Dragonfly Film and TV 2011.
She joined the BBC Production Talent Network in 2013. She recruits researchers and producers for production and development for History and Business programmes. She also works with the BBC Academy, taking part in entry level recruitment schemes including the Production Talent Pool (PTP), Apprenticeships and schemes with Job Centre Plus and the Stephen Lawrence Trust.
Her first book, How To Get A Job in Television was published in 2009 by Methuen/Bloomsbury
