Ernest Dempsey is better known to his friends as Karim Khan. However, he writes and corresponds with fellow writers and does almost all of his freelance writing under the pen name “Ernest Dempsey”. Many get curious to know the story backing the pen name. ‘Ernest’ comes from ‘Ernest Pontifex’, the protagonist of Samuel Butler’s classic novel “The Way of All Flesh”. ‘Dempsey’ is from ‘James Dempsey,’ the hero of the British police drama “Dempsey and Makepeace” that Karim was crazy about in his childhood. Ernest graduated in geology from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2001. A native of Pakistan, his cross-continental passion for literature sparked his interest in getting a degree in English Literature and he went on to earn a Master’s Degree in English Literature in 2007. Since September 2005, he have been working as a research associate at the NCE in Geology, a postgraduate research institute at his alma mater. Ernest is the author of many books, including The Biting Age (Short Fiction/Satire), Islands of Illusion (Poetry), Two Candles (Poetry), and The Blue Fairy and Other Tales of Transcendence (Short Fiction). He makes his debut on Sakura Publishing with “Dump Your Problems!” The e-book is a collection of witty and satirical skits that attempt to tackle a myriad of questions about our world, our lives, and the universe in general.
