This autobiography is a fascinating portrayal of a woman chasing her dreams and the struggles and frustrations she endures along the way. As a fellow Kiwi from her home town Christchurch I can empathize with her background and partially with her drive to find her family roots. I have lived in France for the past 5 years so have experienced much of the hassle, pain, humiliation and anger that goes with trying to make a success of life here. But, unlike me, Frances has done it all on her own without certainty of tenure. Her writing style is easy to follow and is a mix of history, travel blog and personal life. I am astounded at her bravery to write of such personal details but realise that this book is the result of her ambition to publish and to satisfy her creative itch. I feel it is also cathartic for her to get things on paper and out in the open. Her book achieved what I expected - I was entertained, intrigued, astounded and informed. At times I was incredulous at the treatment she received by men. It's been an eye opener in many ways. Good luck Frances, you have done well and you've earned my admiration. I don't think I could have stuck with it like you have. I hope France fulfils your dream.
