I was raised on a farm in East Tennessee and graduated with twenty-nine other students from a high school that is now torn down. I entered the University of Tennessee where I met my future husband. He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering and accepted employment in the aerospace industry. I stayed behind and finished a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. After he worked a year in the aerospace industry, we married and I became employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where I remained for thirty-three years. Additionally during the working years, I obtained a Master's Degree in Home Economics and Counseling and Guidance. A minor in Humanities and Speech was added to complement those degrees. After retirement we returned to our roots in East Tennessee, where we celebrated our fiftieth wedding anniversary.
