Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
Back in 1995 after the birth of my first child. I thought, "Cool! I'll write books and stay at home to raise my kid!" Only thing was, it took A LOT longer than I thought. I sold my first novel to Harlequin in 2005. I have now written 19 category romances for Harlequin and 4 single title 'bride books' for Carina Press, including the Rita award-winning Boomerang Bride. My first Indie story is a short-story, "One For The Road" and although it is only 12,600 words, it's packed with emotion and earns its 'happy ever after.'
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Papua New Guinea and without TV so I learned to read early for some entertainment!
Thus, my love of reading springs from there as well as growing up in a family where books and reading were valued. My grandmother was a great letter writer and I think my writing started there; communicating with family when I was overseas and a hand-written letter was the only way to stay in touch.
