When did you first start writing?
I started to write short stories and poems when I was a child. My first stories were about God, Jesus and Satan- even when I was six I was fascinated by religion! Later on in my twenties I wrote many songs and I married an amateur musician who wrote his own material. But I didn't have much luck collaborating with him or with the other musicians he knew: I used to argue with them too much. Eventually I married again, another musician/songwriter; however, for a long time I stopped writing.
After a journey through a lot of different religions and philosophies I took up chaos magic and became a writer seriously. Chaos magic is based on the arts and sometimes the works of art are magic spells.
What is your writing process?
Usually I write my stories in order. Occasionally I write a later scene in a novella before an earlier scene, but it feels more natural to me to go from the beginning to the end. I don't have the whole story planned out when I start and sometimes I even do that 'writing by the seat of the pants' thing, where you have no plot worked out at all.
One of my books 'The Rescue Circle' was originally going to be a novel, so I drafted out more of a proper plan for that one, but in the end it turned into a novella the same as the others.
