Gabriele Ewerts

Biography

Gabriele loves writing and reading. In addition to children's books, she writes poetry that rhymes and songs that are funny, and plays them on her guitar or her piano, and sometimes on her accordion, which nobody likes but her. She has recorded two CDs of her own songs. When she isn't writing, she's often seen painting pictures of animals and flowers, or anything that strikes her fancy.
Dogs, cats, and horses have always been a big part of her life, and her love for them carries over into her stories. Her pets, past and present, will make regular appearances, like her quirky cat Peppy, who became the Pelifeles character in Sophie and the Magic Flower. She enjoys growing plants and gardening, which also play a big part in the story. Her favorite summer activity is hiking with her dog Kayla, a Labrador retriever mix, in the Colorado Mountains and taking photos of the beautiful scenery.
She is currently working on the second book of her trilogy.
