I highly recommend this book to aficionados of the detective genre. One should read this book with a glass of good wine at hand. While the main plot is absorbing, the details of life in the world of diplomacy are revealed, in often hilarious anecdotes, which left this reader in stitches on many occasions. The rarefied atmosphere of diplomatic maneuvers, comes face to face with the mundane realities of life, in this story of intrigue and suspense. The author clearly has a comprehensive understanding of the ups and downs in the life of the diplomat. The authenticity of her descriptions of time, place and persona is palpable. Who has not faced the dilemma encountered by Sven? Who has not experienced the frustration of trying to communicate critical details, under pressure, in a foreign tongue? Suffice it to say that the basement of the Irish ambassador's residence in Ankara, Turkey, as seen in this story must qualify as being one of the busiest, in that land of mystery. This story is a veritable Turkish delight!
