Although I thoroughly enjoyed reading Talented, there are two reasons why I did not rate this book higher. First is that it is not a stand-alone novel - even with a series, I want an actual ending, not a stopping point until the next book in the series. In my opinion, you can wrap up one story line and still leave a reader interested in the next one. The ending here leaves too much unanswered, which of course will be explained in the next book (or two). The other problem with the book is the large number of typos and grammatical errors that are present. Maybe it's because I am an English major, but too many errors distract me from the actual text, and this book was chock full of them.
That being said, I really did enjoy the characters and story line that Ms. Davis has created. Talia is a very believable and likeable character; you definitely root for her throughout the novel. The book starts off strong with a plot that moves you along with it, not enough romance to turn me off, and enough suspense and intrigue to satisfy any adrenaline junkie! Despite my complaints, I am definitely looking forward to reading more by Ms. Davis and finding out what happens to Talia next! Thank you for this giveaway, Goodreads - I am always pleased to find an entertaining new YA author!
