Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a home where dad read the newspaper and us kids read what we needed to for our homework.
That was about it. I have a touch of dyslexia and reading did not come easy for me.
I remember reading the bare minimum for book reports.
I did not learn to love reading until my husband began reading books to me. I married at the age of sixteen, so I was still growing up.
When we had children, we had regular story time when my husband would read to the family.
I began telling stories to my grandchildren and found my muse had some great ideas.
Even as a grandma I am still growing up. It took a good deal of work to develop verbal stories into written stories.
When did you first start writing?
I began writing when my grandchildren reached middle school and I was appalled at the reading material given them at school. I was determined to offer a better reading experience for young adults. As a Christian I believe it is important to have uplifting and edifying things to read and think about.
