I am a big Evel Knievel fan & his Snake River Canyon jump has always interested me so this photo book by a photographer who was there was something I had to get.
First, despite Kevin Cable's young age (I think 17 at the time he took the photos), the photos are amazing. In fact, some of the photos seem more like paintings than photos telling a story far beyond a simple still shot. Second, the essay parts are well-written and give an added dimension to a kind of Woodstock atmosphere. After seeing this photo book, I know exactly why Mr. Cable went onto a successful career as a photographer and commercial director.
The only disappointment I had was the Epub format (which showed the photos in low pixel, thumbnail form so it was hard to see the quality of the photos themselves. Fortunately, I was able to secure this book in PDF form and was blown away by the quality of the photos for the reasons mentioned above. I am not a photographer (I am a lowly writer), however, it would seem to me that photo books should solely use the PDF format as it is far superior.
Anyway, if you want to step back in time to the pot-smoking, hippie early 70's, Kevin Cable's photo book (in PDF form) is the way to take the trip.
Enjoy,
