Valley of Sorrows is a storyteller’s dream—full of twists and turns, simple yet dramatic. I even found myself thinking about the characters and the events as I went about my daily chores. The author’s skill at succinctness, gives the reader short descriptions that are colorful, clear, and captivating. I could see the settings and walk in the valley as well as believe the strange presence at the lake. The characters are as real as you and me with inner conflicts and fears. The despicable acts, sensitively presented, create compassion for the victim, and comprehension of the killer’s emotional anguish—not an easy feat to accomplish. By the time the main character comes to terms with the mysterious woman at the lake, the reader is dying to know what will happen. (Pun intended.)
