Gretchen A.L. Schork has been a teacher, scribe and magician for most of her life. Through the hard lessons in each of her professions, she has learned to laugh more than cry, and to take problems with a grain of salt. She prefers honey to vinegar, but is willing to dish out (and take) the appropriate medicine when needed. She lives near the campus described in the book, and has taken liberty with its structure and courses with respect for those who actually teach there.
Selena was ready for the class: she had carefully selected and prepared for them. What remained was to take them through the unexpected journey that would be created by the synergy of the individuals in the class.
That is how the serious study of the magical arts always works. It is individual, and always unexpected. And that is what the semester will bring to light.
