Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie publisher?
Gryfyn Publishing is all about publishing books that the traditional companies often deny. I try to pick novels that have a high chance of rejection but yet tell a beautiful story. I'm more interested in selling books that will speak to a large group of people, rather than chasing fads that will prove to make a profit, but not stand the test of time.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I (Megan) have a rare disease called Common Variable Immune Deficiency Disorder, and it can be extremely hard for me to get out of bed even when I get a good night's sleep. What keeps me moving everyday is that I feel that if I didn't have a purpose, I wouldn't be here. So I write a lot and try to give a lot of my time to others and try to inspire people. I know that I have to do a little bit each day to try and make somebody else's life better. My goal is that the world will be a little brighter after I leave it.

I got this book as a gift from the author and I have to say I think that the voodoo part of it was the best part. The character of Jade was my favorite. She seemed very mysterious and magical, and also wise. I wish the story hadn't ended on a cliffhanger. Personally I loved Shemeya's dreads and I hope she kept them. Having hair that turns into snakes that protect you is really cool and an idea that I've never seen before. I wanted the story to go on and more details to be explained. This could be a whole book if expanded.
