Guy Middlemiss

Biography

I live in New Zealand, Palmerston North.
John Cleese thinks we are an/the ideal place to kill yourself in. I believe he was pissy because no one wanted to go and see his show, in our defence I have to say; they were changing the roller towel down at the bus station that night and there was an absorbing TV show on colorectal surgery; either eminently more enjoyable than watching that tired old prat.
My tattoo gives my age away.
Bucket list objective completed - published and sold a book.
But the writing thing gets under your skin.
So 4 more to come.
Favourite writers Kesey, Ellroy, Kerouac, Gunter Grass.

Smashwords Interview

What is your writing process?
Random. I just write and see where it takes me.
I have a broad idea of what I want but am undisciplined. Too much rigidity kills the flow and closes off possibilities.
I can write anywhere.
The first book taught me writing is: editing, revision and more editing.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first real book I read was Kesey; Sometimes a Great Notion.
The first book I disappeared into. It's still with me.
