Where do you get your ideas?
Everywhere! Often I start thinking about a particular sexy scene, but then I want to find out: Who is that headmistress that leaves school to meet a slightly dangerous man in a hotel room? Who is the woman who shows up at the rock musician's hotel -- wearing a collar and leash? I also like to play with a reader's expectations. I like writing a story that seems to be going in one direction and then turns out to be something else. Not always, but sometimes.
What authors do you like?
There are a few mainstream authors who write exciting erotic passages -- Diana Gabaldon, Rosemary Rogers, Anne Rice. And then I keep finding more on Smashwords, or through their Twitter or Tumblr accounts - or just browsing through the Smashwords stories. The ones I like, I favorite. I like authors who present a sexy story in a place or time I might not think of. To me -- I think to a lot of readers -- erotica is not just a series of anatomical parts interacting with other anatomical parts. It's about relationships - discovery, power plays, issues of trust. I try to keep those in mind when I'm writing, too.
