As a Wildland Firefighter since the summer of 2000, Harold Larson has fought hundreds of fires throughout Canada, the United States, and Australia. He has a Diploma in Forest Technology and has been a student of fire since he started his firefighting career at the age of 16. Harold was awarded the Australian National Emergency Medal that was established by Her Majesty the Queen for his service during the Black Saturday Bushfires.
On February 7, 2009, devastating fires ravaged the Australian countryside throughout the State of Victoria. Eight years of consecutive drought coupled with record breaking temperatures caused the fires to burn at an unprecedented rate destroying entire communities and claiming the lives of 173 people.
