I was born in 1960 and raised in Iowa. BA in English Literature, Iowa State University, 1995. I have hitchhiked the United States for most of the past 23 years.

What are your five favorite books, and why?
The King James Bible, My Utmost For His Highest, The Brothers Karamazov, Moby Dick, The Spiritual Man
When did you first start writing?
I dropped out of high school in the spring of 1977 and started working at a lumber yard. That summer I wrote my first poems. In a couple of years I wrote my first short story. I wrote a novella in 1981, but it was never published.
