Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
One of the main reasons literature is special for me is because of its ability to transform its meaning and significance in the minds of readers, through time and space. I love creating. Coming up with an idea, putting the pieces together, and telling the story is awesome. But the real magic comes when your work spreads and people start to have opinions about it, perspectives on it. The way something I write can take the form of what a reader needs it to be for them, based on their own life experiences -- that's the magic. That's the greatest joy of writing for me.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors to read are Edgar Allan Poe, Rita Dove, Charles Dickens, James Baldwin, Angela Davis, Paul Laurence Dunbar, J.K. Rowling, and Zora Neale Hurston.
