Hunter Goss

I have a blog that I update when I have something to say.

There’s a Facebook page out there somewhere, too. Same deal.

They don’t get tons of use because my goal is to entertain readers with my stories, not annoy them with social networking spam.

I spent most of my working life in what is probably the most obscure and unglamorous corner of the fashion world: making finished leather and selling it to shoe and accessories manufacturers. It’s dirty and sometimes difficult work that’s a collision between chemistry and art. Not too many people understand it until they see something like a pair of Louboutins or a Hermes bag up close.

I’ve visited cities all over the world, which helps with the setting of my stories. I’ve also worked with tanners, finishers, shoe makers, designers and buyers from just about every continent on the planet and I consider myself fortunate to have met every one of them. Even the one who threw me out of his office one day.

Besides thinking that everyone ought to have at least a few great shoes, wallets and bags, I’m passionate about food and wine and I’ve even written the occasional wine article. My formal education is in economics and I’m a financial news geek.

Under another name, I’ve worked in comics and graphic novels.

I live just north of Pittsburgh along the Pennsylvania-Ohio border in a quiet little town that’s close enough to the big city to let me wave my Terrible Towel with impunity.

P.S. The guy who threw me out of his office called me three days later and placed a huge order. It pays not to push the panic button.
