Ian Evans was born in England and grew up in South Africa. He is a professor emeritus of clinical psychology and has taught in universities in Hawai'i, New York, and New Zealand. His first novel, Forgive Me My Trespasses (Archway, 2015) was set in a fictional public university in upstate New York. In Menace, his third novel, he returns to that same milieu, a setting where he and his wife once lived in a ramshackle farmhouse on a hundred acres of disused dairy land. On retirement, they returned to the familiar haunts and much balmier days of Honolulu.
