Ian M Malcolm's seagoing memoirs were published in The Nautical Magazine of Glasgow from 1993 to 2003. His books, on the subject of the British Merchant Navy, are as follows:
'Life Aboard a Wartime Liberty Ship' was published by Amberley in 2010 and 'Shipping Company Losses of the Second World War' by The History Press in 2013. 'Outward Board', 'Back To Sea', 'Via Suez' and 'Last Voyage Beyond' were published in kindle format by M M Malcolm in 2012 and 'Dangerous Voyaging' in 2013.
He has also produced several audio books which can be purchased directly from his website.
After a year at Leith Nautical College to obtain a 1st Class PMG Certificate in Radiotelegraphy, the author returns to sea on the old Blue Funnel ship Atreus which carries Muslim pilgrims to Jeddah on the homeward passage.
The author describes his first post-war year in the Merchant Navy, on the Liberty Ship Samnesse, with detailed information about the different countries visited and numerous interesting photographs. Outward Bound is the sequel to "Life Aboard a Wartime Liberty Ship" published by Amberley and which received excellent reviews.
