Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
Life provides never-ending inspirational, challenging, or thought-providing stories. My first book, Cherry Tree Dares: Essays on Childhood, recounted nonfiction adventures when I was a child. Now, Truth and Fiction: Essays & Short Stories on Life describes some of those life encounters from an adult perspective. The first half are nonfiction essays, while the second half are fictional short stories.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like the freedom to publish my work quickly so my readers can enjoy the stories. Also, learning the publishing process of getting a book to market provided a new adventure for me.

Real life is often more fascinating than fiction. This book of essays presents life growing up in small Midwestern towns from the early 1950s to mid-1960s. Come explore the mysteries of life through my “Cherry Tree Dares” at age eight, my black eye from “The Chartreuse Monarch” bicycle, and “The Last Kiss” between my mother and me.
