Linda Caddick

Biography

LINDA CADDICK, the daughter of a pioneering farmer in Zimbabwe, spent her school years confined to boarding hostels, but during the holidays wandered freely on the farm, where she developed a lively imagination and a love for nature. Strongly attracted to Cape Town, South Africa, she went to live there at the first opportunity.

Her writing skills were developed during many years of producing descriptive editorial for a restaurant publication. After almost 20 years of city life, her dream of living in the country was realised when she and her husband, together with their two small children, bought a run-down caravan park in the Cape Winelands and turned it into a popular resort for church and family outings.

Linda’s passion is to write inspirational novels which illustrate the truth of the gospel through true-to-life characters and stories that will appeal to all.

Smashwords Interview

What do you read for pleasure?
I always look for emotionally and spiritually satisfying books that are well written, with a positive outlook on life. In other words, I want to get right inside the characters and feel what they feel. I cannot stand books that focus on the dark side of life or have a complaining attitude about how bad and ugly life is. If things go wrong - as they must - I want to see issues resolved or redeemed, and something good to come out of it if it cannot be resolved. I prefer the old fashioned past tense - the present tense is mildly irritating to me.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
There is nothing like the smell of a paper book, the delicious tang of new ink or the mouldy smell of an old library book - I stop reading frequently to take a good sniff. A kindle, though useful, just doesn't quite do it!
