J.A. Turner

Biography

Living at home with her husband of 17 years, two teenage sons, two dogs and a cat, life can get pretty chaotic. But when writing is in your soul, you always find a way back to it.
J.A. Turner has been writing most of her life. Whether it be in the form of poetry, short stories or even a little erotica from time to time, she always makes time for the characters that are born in her thoughts and take residency in her heart.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book, Dear Diary: Sherri's Mark, started off as a short story about a one-time fling between a flustered nurse and beefy mechanic after she breaks down on the interstate and he stops to help her out. When I shared it with a small group of my friends, they all urged me to keep going. So, I did. Nearly a year after I initially started it, I'm ready to release it to the public. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as my girlfriends do.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up along the Gulf Coast, mostly in Pensacola, FL, but pretty much everywhere from Tallahassee to Houma, LA. It's an area teeming with adventure during the day and full of ghost stories at night. I was a river rat, but my husband, who grew up in Pensacola as well, was a beach bum. Talk about night and day. I think the main influence the area has on my writing, other than locale, is vernacular. I tend to talk and write with a southern drawl and use phrases that mean squat to people who don't understand redneck slang. I say 'Y'all' a lot, lol.
