Jennifer L. Rowlands

Biography

My first love is my family and they are what inspires me most. I find reflections of them within the characters of my books, whether I intended to or not. But there is so much more about writing and reading that I enjoy - mostly, the chance to free creativity and imagination. I enjoyed diving into the written word as a teenager, but took a break to embrace college life, and then married life, and then motherhood. My two boys and their daily excitement about the world and everything in it is what inspired me to pick up the pen (keyboard) again. Thanks to the support from family and friends, I am happy to present my works to you.

I truly hope you enjoy my works and would greatly appreciate you taking the time to write a review for any of them. I would like to know what you liked and even if you have any suggestions for improvement.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
There were a lot of factors. It's a big world full of a lot of great authors. A lot of them, admittedly, better than me! I had little time to research agents and publishers well enough to write the perfect, individualized query letters. I started to hear great things about self-publishing, so I dug in.
What are you working on next?
I'm co-writing a fantasy series. This is an entirely new venture for me. I've written my other books and stories on my own, so the first challenge is sharing control of the story. So far, this has worked out very well. My co-writer and I seem to be on the same page with nearly all ideas and expectations with these books. Fantasy is fairly new to me, with the exception of 'The Locket,' which has a touch of fantasy. What I like about this new series is that it is completely saturated in fantasy. I'm thoroughly enjoying the freedom to create a new world and creatures and situations.

Very cute! It sounds similar to how cleaning goes at my house when my boys "help"
  • Carpe DiEmily (Part 1): A Free Romance / Romantic Comedy Chick Lit on April 03, 2013

A fun read, whitty and tinged with suspense. So many pieces hook the reader and make them invested in the characters. I even like the extra touch of adding a picture at the start of each chapter, that follows the development of the main character.
  • Espresso Macchiato on April 19, 2014

A fun little romance. I do wish there was more to the tale!
  • The Bear and the Bee on May 10, 2014

Such a cute story. A great way to demonstrate how to give someone a chance.
  • Lyon and Moldoff on June 01, 2014

So cute and heartwarming. A sweet idea behind the story. Great illustrations.
  • Pyjama Series: The Meeting on June 01, 2014

Fun and witty. I'm a classic klutz myself, so I can relate (you can tell by reading my book 'Love & Daisies', yeah, most of that came directly from me). I also enjoy direct, sassy characters, which this story has. Would like to see more.
  • Farm of Dreams on June 01, 2014

An amusing poem. I think it's the perfect sort to have illustrations with it. Imagine seeing the animals dressed to match their careers! A cover would help too, I almost went right over this. Still fun!
