John Hunter

A Compulsive Entrepreneur and the author of sixty four market leading technical publications and two screenplays. He was born in England in 1945. After Technical High School and Art College, he spent nine years in the military, some of which was on active service in Northern Ireland and in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. This was followed by a period as Sales Director of a 'wooden boat' building company. Working in wood inspired him to start his first business designing and manufacturing educational toys and equipment for handicapped children.

After this business was taken over he became involved in marketing for an international publishing group publishing DIY car manuals. This experience enhanced his love of books and he became Managing Director of a publishing company marketing specialist books to the construction industry. This further honed his publishing knowledge to the extent that he founded his own business, the first electronic publishing company in the UK, where he developed electronic publishing software and published construction cost databases. He authored 64 market leading construction cost information titles. The business expanded into creating world leading estimating software where they became market leaders and in 1991 he was awarded the British Design Award for the estimating software he had developed. After thirteen years the business had survived a major recession and grown into a successful group, as Chairman & Managing Director he decided to sell the business, to have more time for personal development.

He quickly realised that retirement was not for him and as a private pilot started a new business chartering high performance aircraft to other pilots. His passion for the environment guided him into a further business 'alternative fuels', where he designed a system for converting petrol powerboat engines to run on LPG, a much cleaner fuel than petrol and a fraction of the cost. This was demonstrated on national television when he established the first British Offshore Powerboat Speed Record for a 'Green Powered' boat, nearly 100 mph. Finally, after four years working for a Film Production company as Managing Director and Producer, he decided to leave main line business to concentrate on writing.

Since the seventies when the 'Gaia Theory' originated he became fascinated with the environment; with this awareness he researched everything that he could find on the subject including ancient civilisations and the causes of damage being inlficted on the Earth by man. There were many discoveries and military experiments that bothererd him and lingered in his mind. The idea for 'parallel Worlds' originated as a vehicle for sharing with other people some of his thoughts and concerns through a book but in a manner that combined interesting facts with a fast pace action story.
