Smashwords Interview

Why centaurs? They seem like such oddball beings on which to base a story, let alone a series.
My love for centaurs began years ago while I was in college. I just happened to pick up a copy of Ovid’s “The Metamorphoses” in the bookstore. There’s a wonderful slice of life story called “Nestor’s Tale of the Centaurs”, which is a retelling of the war between the Lapiths and the centaurs. It just hit me: What if centaurs were real? What if this story was based on actual events? Centaurs are real. They’re not the result of “magic” or “genetic engineering”, but a truly evolved race. Moreover, they are still evolving--into humans.
First, you wrote “The Children of Cheiron”, and now you’ve published “Cheiron’s Promise” some four years later. How many stories do you plan for the Archon Series?
It will be a trilogy. The last story is tentatively titled, “I, Cheiron”. It’s barely in the planning stages, but I can tell you that the titular character, Cheiron, plays a major role. I hope to have it done and published in two years. After that, I’d like to move onto to something else. I’ve taken the “centaurs are real” concept about as far as I can.
