Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. Lagos is the economic capital and commercial nerve of the country. It is a place that is full of life and rich in cultural heritage. For me as an African author, I try as much as possible to reflect Lagos life--the struggles, the beauty, and the attractions of the city in my writing. That's a way it influences my writing.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Wow! What an interesting question! My latest book which coincidentally is my debut novel is titled: 'The Prisoner of Love'. It tells an intriguing love story of absolute trust, undying love, and heart-touching sacrifices. It was a story of two lovers who were madly in love such that their love seemed to be forged in heaven. But as captivating as their love story was, it suddenly went sour and lead to a catastrophic heartbteak. Now, here's the lesson: I've heard and seen people do crazy stuff because of heartbreak. I've heard of people committing murder, suicide, and other unimaginable atrocities in the name of being heartbroken. Granted, heartbreak can be very painful but that still doesn't justify such atrocities. I wrote the story to show people that there's still life after a heartbreak, an interesting one at that. There can still be a happy ending after all. So, why harm yourself or other people when you still have limitless opportunities to be happy ahead of you?!
