UPDATE: August, 2014. "Back from Obesity: My 252-pound Weight-loss Journey" is now available here on Smashwords, and I am thrilled! It took over a decade to see the culmination of two miracles—losing 252 pounds and finishing the book about it!
Meanwhile, I am still a retired teacher-turned-writer on the Long Beach Peninsula, tucked away in southwest corner of Washington state. I’ve written for Guidepost, Woman’s World, Byline and Star. I wrote a bi-weekly humorous personal experience newspaper column for over 10 years, garnering 11 state awards. Two collections of those stories, "Through My Looking Glass," have been published, the first published by Kaleidoscope Press, the second by Sandridge Publications.
"Just Joshin', A Year in the Life of a Not-so-ordinary 4th Grade Kid" is a collection of 63 humorous classroom anecdotes. Following that, "It's Christmas!", with 47 stories and the scripts from three one-act Christmas plays. And for the romantics, "Romance 101: 42 light, sweet, delicious, G-rated short stories." I've also written a dozen one-act plays, one full-length play, and a dinner theater murder mystery. All have been performed on stage.
A frequent contributor to the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series, I’ve had 28 stories accepted in the past 4 1/2 years. I have won or placed in many local short story contests, and two of my chapter submissions for an Astoria, Oregon, newspaper murder-mystery serial were selected for publication. My two cozy mystery novels, set on the Long Beach Peninsula, will be published in 2015, and by then, maybe there will be a third one finished!
Thanks for checking out my bio; I hope you enjoy my writing!
