This is my first exposure to A.M. Burns. I have to say, for a first novel, I was impressed. I liked the totally different take on the genre from several angles. The relationship dynamic between the two main characters, Ethan and Dusty is very loving. You can tell that the two of them care deeply for each other, but the author chooses not to dive into raw sex in the book, instead relying on the story to carry itself.
Other reviews harp on the minor editing issues with this book, which didn't bother me at all, it's a first book, and I expected some flaws.
Overall this book is a murder mystery, and like any good murder mystery the clues are available fairly quickly as to who did it, but you get to know a likable cast of characters that help weave a very enjoyable story. I've not read many books that take on the pagan/magical community as well as this one does. Overall I found the book refreshing and original. I look forward to reading future books in the series, and other things by this new and interesting writer.
