What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is being able to evoke imagination in everyone willing to read my works. Whether I'm writing fiction, or non-fiction, I want people to see my writing as an escape to another world. In that world, I want them to be able to smile, laugh, and be at peace with themselves. I also enjoy inspiring future writers, like I was inspired by my favorite author, Mark A. Roeder. And most of all, my greatest joy of writing is being able to say and do whatever I want on paper, with no rules, no censors, and no judgement.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I've lived in Dallas, Texas my entire life. This is all I know. I've been reading books since I was in elementary school, and I have never read one where the setting was in Dallas, or even Texas! So of course, in most of my novels, Dallas is the main setting, or a city in Texas. Mostly because it's all I know, but also because I want people to see that Texans are more than just country cowboys who ride horses everywhere. I want them to see that Dallas is a pretty decent city and that Texas has a lot to offer.
