Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was 10 years old and wrote a short story about a lost puppy looking for his family. The babysitter read it and sent it to the Arizona Republic newspaper which published the story. I received a copy of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan of the Apes as compensation!
What is your writing process?
After an idea has coalesced, I write out a rough outline in paragraph format. When the writing bug bites, I get on the computer and begin typing. When I'm typed out, I stop for the evening. Once the story is complete, I go back throughout and edit and tweak, as needed.
If I'm working with my son, Kyle, I then turn it over to him for his tweaking and edits. Then I make a final pass through to fix any last minute issues.
