Friedberg wins BEST SUSPENSE THRILLER book!
This book really got to me. I don’t say that about a lot of books, but I had to write a review on this one. I fell in love with half the characters and totally despised the other half, but in a delicious way. I couldn’t get enough of the action. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and I didn’t want to put the damn thing down. Friedberg makes Indiana Jones look like child’s play.
Black Jack Vane is my hero. I even like his trashy mouth. His flaws make him human. If he was real, I’d marry him. The Native American lore was fascinating. I’ve been a professional writer and editor for over twenty years, and I haven’t read a story of good and evil and redemption that gripped my attention like this in a long time.
I loved the ancient themes, the Lost Relic, and Jack’s unrelenting journey. I really didn’t expect to get so much out of one book – action, love, magic, secrets, good and evil, and flat out outrageousness. Every surprise is topped by an even bigger, more unexpected explosion. Had me going right up to the end.
This one’s a keeper. Haven’t read a book I enjoyed so much in years. Friedberg is a skilled craftsman. His research is vast and intricate. And being a former P.I. doesn’t hurt. Friedberg was born to write this.
I only have two questions: When’s the sequel coming out? I’m buying it. And, when’s the movie coming out? I’ll buy the first ticket.
