Winner of the ECU Scholarship for Excellence (2016), Jessica Rose Checkland is a Western Australian poet and adult-fiction writer. She studies at Edith Cowan University majoring in Writing. Jessica has been extensively involved in volunteer roles including the RSPCA and the Peter Cowan Writers Centre. She is currently managing and organising this year’s Publication Event for the Centre. Jessica is a writer for Junkee Media with three published, and accredited, articles. When she’s not writing, Jessica enjoys reading crime novels and poetry books with a cup of English Breakfast tea.
