This novel is a must read! From the very beginning of this novel, I found myself engaged in the story line. As a book lover, I have read many pieces in which I lose interest within the first few chapters causing me to close the book and place it on a shelf to collect dust or take up space within my Kindle. I can honestly say that this writer's ability to keep a reader's attention is apparent throughout the book. Mr. Beatty has created a character that the reader falls in love with. Chapter by chapter, I found myself rooting for this character to rise above the many obstacles he faces throughout his young life. This beautifully written piece of work reads as if it is a true memoir instead of fiction. I must say that this unlikely heroic character is considered one of my all time favorite characters in a novel. I am eager to read more pieces of work from this author!
